but there are so many alternatives and other kinds of magical items that our archer will probably buy a Deflecting armor for $2,000, increasing all his defenses by 1, rather than a stupid Elven Bow for $16,000.ДЄnd Penetrating Weapon x2 (that divides armor by 3) costs 'only' $40,000.ДЄll this doesn't even take into account the fact that a true munchkin will NEVER buy a Bow with Puissance and Penetrating. Only then an Elven Bow becomes something one could think about. If he has more cash, he may be interested in a Penetrating Bow with Puissance, for $20,000. So an archer who wants a magical bow, will try to find a Penetrating Bow for $10,000. I've yet to see any player buying a Weapon enchanted with Puissance +1. Moreover, Puissance+1, that costs $10,000, is a really bad deal. So there is no such thing as an Elven Bow which costs +$1600 Elven Bows ALWAYS cost $14,400 and referring to +$3200 or cheaper Elven Bows is somewhat misleading. That's because an Elven Regular Bow or an Elven Longbow will be more costly AND less powerful than an ordinary Composite Bow (check the numbers if you don't believe me the Composite bow will have the same or greater damage, and greater accuracy).ДЄn Elven Shortbow will cost slightly less than a Composite Bow, but it really really sucks (inferior damage, accuracy, range, whatever). I am afraid it isn't, not at all, I'll try to explain why.ДЄn Elven Bow will ALWAYS be a Composite Bow and thus cost an extra $14,400. It's an entirely fair price for what it does. It boils down to a built-in, nonmagical Puissance +1 spell with which Puissance +1 can 'stack,' letting it usurp to role of the rather more expensive Puissance +2.
